Roving Housing Resource Programs

Based on the principle that all individuals are entitled to fully utilize all community resources for which they are eligible, Eden I&R (Information & amp;Referral) makes every effort to provide that information in as many ways as possible. In addition to our much-relied upon phone line services, we also go out into the community to locations where people are in need of housing and social services.

First initiated in 1995, the Roving Housing Resource Program (RHRP) has grown to include four different programs. In an effort to maximize access to our databases of over 43,000 housing units and 1,270 human services, Eden I&R deploys Roving Housing Resource Specialists to other community-based organizations, including homeless shelters, career centers, and AIDS service organizations.

Each Resource Specialist travels with a laptop computer loaded with an updated copy of our databases, and each program is customized to meet the specific needs of its target population. The collaborative nature of the programs result in the maximum benefit to the clients of our partner organizations.

The four Roving Housing Resource Programs are:

Mid/South County: Provides housing case management to homeless families and individuals at five homeless shelters in Hayward and Fremont.
.
AIDS Housing & Information Project (AHIP): Provides the same I&R services as the AHIP Phone Line to people living with HIV/AIDS (see center panel), but does so on-site at various AIDS service organizations.

Maximizing Opportunities for Mothers to Succeed (MOMS): Provides case management and housing assistance to incarcerated mothers and pregnant women at the Santa Rita Jail. Enrollment occurs during incarceration, but assistance continues post-release.

Alameda Point: Affiliated with the conversion of the former Naval base, provides housing assistance and life skills training to formerly homeless persons, survivors of domestic violence, and people living with HIV/AIDS.
