Housing:
Eden I&R is a nonprofit agency based in Hayward that maintains a computerized database of over 74,500
housing units in Alameda County, and provides free information on housing-related
services for property managers and for people seeking housing.
Eden I&R's Housing Services began as the CHAIN
(Community Housing And Information Network) Phone Line program and provided housing and community service information
in response to the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake. It was originally set
up to help those displaced by the earthquake to locate affordable rentals.
More than 20 years later, the CHAIN Phone Line, now 2-1-1 Alameda County,
continues to connect property managers with eligible persons seeking housing.
Information is provided free, by phone, to individuals and families seeking
housing, and landlords pay nothing to list their properties. |
